Whilst most of Cyprus slumbers late night revellers return
to bed, our
day starts at the stables eager horses to be fed.
The
carriage gets a cleaning to make it spic and span, it
has to look its best today a weddings close to hand.
We
exercise the horses the ones not used today, the
ones that have to work away will get theirs come what may.
The
stables get a mucking the paddock poo picked too, its
not a job that most would like I ask you now would you!
3hrs to go till wedding bells the horses to be groomed, it
sound just like an easy job if they'd just give us room.
We
plait their tails and brush their coats as silky as can be,
he's going to look his best today for all the world to see.
2hrs to go the horsebox waits first transport of the day, we
load the horses into it entice them with some hay.
So
off we go into town horse and carriage too, the
horses neigh along the way they know what they're to do.
1hr
to go time is at hand to harness for the horse, we
just need that final touch a plume for him of course.
The
carriage needs to be dressed its flowers on the rear, a
final polish to it now then horse hooked on stand
clear!
We
make our way to meet our guests to meet them come what may, we
cant be late at any cost we must be where they stay
And
so we wait and wait and wait upon the bride to be,
outside her door a carriage stands for all the world to
see.
The bride arrives all dressed in white proud father on her
arm, the
bridesmaids too dressed up as well to really add some
charm.
We
help them up a little step then safely to their seats, a
parasol is passed to her to best combat the heat.
And
so we make our way through the town father and bride to be, the
bride looks out at passers by "I'll soon be married - Me!"
The
church draws near the groom awaits the bride smiles all the
way,
you'll soon be at your marriage now on this your special
day.
And so we wait outside the church as promises are made, and
after that the photographs - the horse stands in the shade!
After a while the bride and groom new life ahead of them,
come down the steps so happy now from here true love will
swell.
More photographs of bride and groom before were on our way, a
journey they are taking now in fact in many ways.
We
make our way so leisurely sedate and taking time, and
on the way, all passers by stand still and give a smile.
The
bride and groom so elegant a trip from olden days, a
stately ride through Cyprus past as was in another age.
A
canter now as on a hill the horse will needs some speed, we
check our guests there happy still - I guess they trust our
steed!
The
ride takes us through memories past but reception is a
must, and
everyone will be waiting there the guests went on the Bus!
An
entrance made spectacular your friends all clap and cheer,
they smile and wave as you pull in so glad to see you here.
And
so we say our fond goodbyes we really wish you well, we
hope your years are happy now, we think that you can tell
Our
job complete we turn around and soon are on our way, the
horse picks up a steady speed his work is done today !
